These fine museum-quality furniture waxes are based on heirloom recipes. Ingredients are beeswax, mineral spirits and carnauba wax (except for the pure beeswax which does not have carnauba wax in it). These waxes are all easy to apply, provide a durable finish with a beautiful lustre, and have almost no odor. Use over your milk or mineral painted projects to protect the finish or add colour effects. We offer 3 types:
Furniture Wax: A neutral finishing wax ideal for use on raw wood, stained wood or as a finish over milk paint.
Antiquing Wax: Lightly tinted a rich brown, this wax is perfect for creating an authentically aged finish on a piece of milk painted furniture.
White Wax: Tinted a creamy white, this wax is perfect for creating a faded, washed or limed look on a piece of milk painted furniture.
Beeswax: Foodsafe natural beeswax with mineral oil. Great to us as a resist between lawyers of milk paint to achieve an authentic chippy finish. Can be applied to wood kitchen utensils, butcher block counters and cutting boards.
Zinc Wax: It is made from beeswax with a little carnauba wax and is then lightly tinted to with metallic gray pigments, perfect for emulating the look of zinc. It is easy to apply, provides a durable finish with a beautiful luster and has almost no odor.
How to use waxes: Use a clean cotton cloth or brush to apply wax in a thin layer. With tinted waxes (antiquing and white), work the wax into recesses of carved details or surface imperfections for a 2-tone appearance. Allow wax to dry for 3-5 minutes. Buff to a shine with a clean lint-free cotton cloth. For additional shine and durability, apply a second coat. Clean brush with soap and warm water.
Waxes create a "livable" finish which means that scratches and blemishes can be sanded out and wax can be reapplied, making it a great finish for busy households.
